Monica Bhide’s Brussels Sprouts, Leeks, and Curry Leaves


You will never look at Brussels sprouts the same way again after this you try this recipe. While they are not a traditional Indian vegetable, Brussels sprouts have found their way into my kitchen. Honestly, I first tried them to see why so many Americans disliked them! They tasted mostly like mini cabbages but a bit bland so I decided to spice them up a bit. Before using the sprouts, remove a few of the outer leaves if they are hard and damaged. Also, be sure the leeks are clean: after you have chopped them, place them in a bowl of cold water and then strain through a sieve. Place them on a paper towel and pat dry. Continue Reading…
On the Go Eating The Right Way

There you are standing still while stressed out and slightly traumatized. You persevered through the onslaught of rabid shoppers and bad parking and somehow made it out alive. Then it hits you like a bus full of screaming children – hunger.
Is it?
There you are standing still while excited and slightly euphoric. You made it out into the world and are now celebrating with friends or family. Coming towards you is a plethora of wine, cheese, chips, and perhaps those tiny little crisp shrimp poppers. Suddenly you are hit with the dilemma of wanting to enjoy the moment and all those inner thoughts flood in. You have to give in!
