I wanted to do an update this week, even if it is on a different day than usual.
All work and no play?
As a lot of you know the launch for Body By Eats is coming up. Between that and the long commutes right now that is the reasoning for a bit of post delay. Never fear it will pick up some shortly. I have a lot of great articles that are half written and almost done so it is just a matter of time. To give you a few teases here are their titles.
60 means 40 more years – An article discussing the effects of aging on training and body composition
Inflammation Nation – A look at allergies, excessive eating, and diet
A Realistic Approach to Goal Setting (Fat Loss, Muscle Gain, Maintenance) – On going series covering goal setting methods
The Melody Principle – Volume 2 (with itunes update) – On going series covering the role of music in training
The Plateau Files- 4 part series covering different types of plateaus As you can see it there is a lot of good stuff there.
Still getting less fat
It isn’t overly exciting right now, no huge changes are happening, but I am still less fat as each week goes by. I want to address a question that made me laugh out loud.
“Hey Leigh, I hope you don’t mind me asking, but how fat are you that it is going to take so long!”
In no other profession would you get asked a question like this, amazing. I think it is funny and I love it, I just think the bluntness of calling out my fat ass is funny. I will answer this question especially since I have found that for every one question asked there are 10 people who are thinking the same question.
In short, I am not that fat, I am purposely losing at a moderate pace to maintain some muscle and sanity. I, unlike most people, don’t not get obsessed with the scale or having to see rapid fire losses. I am also getting leaner than ever before so this takes awhile. I am no Kimkims though.

This 1 part dedication, all parts melodic gaze rock of the European persuasion.

Leigh what rate of loss are you looking for right now?
Props on the Doves song.
Right now it is looking like a rate of 0.5 to 0.75 pounds per week. I am a water monster so I have only seen a couple pounds drop but inches have already changed out nicely. I should be done and where I want to be by Jan/Fed as the rate slows down (it will likely move to a 0.25 pace after Nov).
Strength and muscle preservation for me is very important. I lost so much already being down, I don’t want to lose much more. It’s slow coming but the payoff in the end will be good. Its only at most, what 6 months tops. Small price to pay.
I think it is funny the nobility people put towards torturing themselves. There is nothing wrong with rapid fat loss, I could do it if I wanted to, but I just don’t want to put myself through it. I would rather wait, be patient with the hand I delt myself, and come out on top a little later.
Those titles look good Leigh, can’t wait to read them.
I was wondering if you were going to talk about adrenal fatigue any time soon.
Great song Leigh, you have the best music taste. Oh…hope your fatassedness is gone soon.
I can’t wait for your articles on Aging and Inflammation. I work mostly with older individuals or people with very bad back and joint pain.
I consider it one of my jobs to help reduce inflammation. I have done several updates for my members on inflammation. The fact is that proper eating and fitness training can go a long wait to eleviate inflammation!
I will check back regularly for your new postings!

Looking forward to “A Realistic Approach…”. Goal setting has never been a strong suit of mine so I want to start working on making improvements now before I eventually start a fat loss phase.
Oh, all of those article titles are complete teases…! Can’t wait for the plateau files.
I like to hear about your approach to your own fat loss. It’s nice to hear you are willing to take it at a gradual pace. I have about 10 more lbs to go and I can’t seem to go any faster than 0.5 lb /week, if that. It makes me feel better– if that rate’s ok for the fat loss troubleshooter, than that’s cool with me.
ps. cool pic.
can’t wait for the articles, especially the one on inflammation. Lord knows that my diet isn’t helping things, but I’ve been working on some changes this week. I’m still having some crazy water retention/water fluctuations here. ugh. One day!!!
Like AnnaK, I have around 10 pounds, and it’s going quite slowly, mostly because I’m not in the mood for torturing myself with it. Sometimes I think I should rush it, but mostly I’m okay getting there slowly.
I look forward to Body by Eats.
Yeah def not alone ladies. I had a big refeed over the weekend and it hard doing them cause you don’t want to lose ground. It’s hard getting back on the wagon because you feel a little normal again and are all on a sugar/sodium high.
Sinead-Don’t make me come over there
Mmmm, sugar high. Is that anything like, to borrow a term from Man vs. Food, “pizza drunk”? Because they both sound really good
