OMG what took you so long! Thank you!
The direct download link isn’t working. I get all kinds of scary messages:

… brrr
Love this – as I am in the perfection vortex
I like the idea of an ask/answer podcast and then a seperate topical one. You could have Motivation Mondays – but not always on topic of motivation (just an idea). We know that with your schedule that it’s subject to change, but we’d always expect topics on Monday (or any other set day) and the Ask Leighs on another one. Just my worthless 2 cents!!
I think that is a great idea Missy. Thanks a lot.
“Right click” option not working for me, any one else having an issue?
[...] Peele posted a new podcast: Episode 21 – Perfecticide; in it she talks about battling perfectionism, something I can totally relate to. I enjoyed her 3 [...]
Test it out now. It should work fine.
Thanks Leigh!
I was a little confused about the idea that the times we binge the most are the times we’re trying the hardest. I basically find the opposite, that my eating fluctuates around some mean, and paying attention or trying to diet (however you want to look at it) pushes the mean down. That is, I’ll still have lighter days and heavier days, but by aiming high, I’ll self-correct more. The winging it approach leads to giving in at the smallest hint of an excuse: it’s a party, it’s my favorite, I have the sniffles, I don’t wanna… That time I ate an entire sleeve of samoas – not when I was trying the hardest.
My point is more to the aspect of what the build up of pressure does. You can’t say fuck it, if you didn’t care in the first place.
I do agree though that lack of focus leads to lack of results as well.
Nice episode, I like the rant in the beginning. There is a nice thread going on in the entire episode about perfectionism.
First question was about doing something that works for you. It can also be something that you are passionate about. The second question was about training environment. I can attest to that. I have been quite sick about commercial gyms and the people training and supervising there that I am thinking about doing all my strength and conditioning work at home. But I have become very passionate about martial arts training and I could go to the dojo everyday to do kung fu, kickboxing, mma, tai chi and san shou. The environment and the people makes all the difference.
I have always been very perfectionist and have wasted more time planning than actually doing. But I think doing martial arts makes me less perfectionist, because I am so glad that I can actually be there to do martial arts that it doesn’t matter that I am not doing everything right. If you find something that you love doing, where you aren’t being judged, where you have an opportunity to grow and where the people around you are supportive, I think perfectionism will fade away.
…where you aren’t being judges or where you don’t feel like you are being judged I meant to say.
I like the idea of having a “topic” podcast and a regular Q&A. I would vote for them being separate, just so I can get two podcasts a week (even though the time would be the same).
“Perfectionism” is a four-letter word in my dictionary, but I am the one who ends up using it the most. Great episode. Thanks for the reminder.
