Hi there! Just stumbled upon your site while doing research. What’s your take on Bikram yoga’s effectiveness for fat loss? If you’ve discussed this before, can you direct me? Thanks and nice site!!
Sasha
oooooooooo cool i am number one! lol JK guys
I havent even listened yet, but i had to jump at posting first, somehow it just makes me cool…… LOl
PS( dont take me seriously)
Great Podcast Leigh. I enjoyed the section about talking to other people about training a lot. Live and let live is a hard thing for me to do, but I am slowly working on it.
It’s always a happy morning when I see that there’s a new Ask Leigh podcast up!
Enjoyed it very much, and can’t wait to see Body By Eats. You are VERY good to your customers; I very much appreciate your awesome respect-the-previous-customers policy.
Shari, you know you’re cool anyway!
I’ve got to download this to my mp3 player for the long wait in carline!!
oh wait weird i wasnt first
it showed me as first then it changed
that aint right? lol
I really like listening to your podcasts because they contain lots of good practical information and advice but it really bugs when you pronounce picture as “pitcher”.
Feel free to ignore this comment as it isn’t relevant to anything important but I had to mention it.
That was a long one!
“The 8 of Clubs Of Trades?” LOL
You have it right my dear, “Jack of All Trades, is expert at NONE!” 8 of clubs is just fine!
Shasa-I don’t believe in any training program FOR fat loss. In support of diet and as additional to create deficit and maintain muscle mass, yes. For fat loss though, no. That being said I don’t have the hard on against yoga like a lot of others do. While I don’t agree with all movements and techniques I think as far as mainstream training its better than most.
That being said I am not a Yoga fanatic so the various types I don’t always know. If your are talking about the yoga in 100 +degree tempture controlled rooms, I think that is the worst of them and wouldn’t recommend it as it can cause extreme imbalance in the body regarding fluid/electrolytes and could be poteintially dangerous on many levels.
Shari-ha you were ALMOST first. When I have to approve someone it doesn’t appear yet and it appears at the time it was written
Keith-Thanks.
Anna K-Thanks a lot. My customers come first and foremost. I see no other way to do it.
Sinead-Hope it is a safe trip.
Incindium-It annoys me too. I have a hard time talking right now as it it and have a lisp I didn’t used to have because of lingual braces.

Some words are downright impossible.
Also there is no script or anything and fumbles in speech can happen sometimes. Like I said “learned” on this episode. Really? So I am aware, I try to do the best I can to speak as clearly as possible, which is why I also try and keep it short because the longer it goes the more tired my mouth gets. I have bands in too. So it can be pretty tricky talking wise.
On a bright note it looks like 2-3 more months and they are off . That will make it almost 2 1/2 years.
Dave- Ha thanks.
Now I feel bad for mentioning it… Feel free to let us know how the teeth turn out and if you feel it was worth the trouble.
Fascinating podcast as usual. I was specially enjoying the discussion on water retention, BC pills, and water intake.
You commented that you generally drink most of your water during the day and lay off on the intake later on at night. Do you still getting in your recommended (in FLTS book) 1 gallon (for women), but just earlier in the day?
As far as periodically reducing water intake to help along a whoosh, do you mean lowering to say 8-10 glasses a day for a day or two, then going up to a gallon again? This is all assuming a person is training almost daily and sweating normally and all that….
Thanks- this was a very timely topic for me given my questions on JP Fitness forums last week.
Yikes! With that in your mouth I’m surprised you can pronounce anything at all! I remember you saying once, something along the lines, that you actually sound entirely different to how you do now (courtesy of the braces). Sounds like very soon the day will come when you’ll not only be able to go back to pronouncing all words with immaculate diction, but you’ll have a beautiful smile to go with it! =>
ok just got done walking and listening!
Leigh- what drinks are you drinking with potassium in it? Are these zero calorie drinks?
I know you had that shake with banannas, sunflower seed butter raisins, which i have made, but what about when in a deficit? Any recomendations?
Thanks
Great question, Shari–I too would be interested in knowing what potassium-high drinks would be good in a deficit.
Also: those braces look brutal, Leigh. Poor you.
Jamie
The amount of water we drink in a day should be dependent on need. 1 Gallon is a safe estimate, but some may need less, some more. You can get too much water for your needs, especially if restricting sodium, which I don’t recommend doing, but it can happen even if not purposeful.
There are different ways to try and induce whooshes. It is a current fascination of mine as in general water cloaking. I am still testing it out with people but so far one of the best ways is utilizing the “Photoshoot” method that is in the Water Manual of FLTS. Basically a lot of water, then none. More specific than that of course but that the gist.
Shari-If looking for a low calorie method I like utilizing a drink called electromix.
I discussed in on a JP thread too. Here is the link.
http://forums.jpfitness.com/fat-loss-troubleshoot/37531-electrolyte-mixes.html
I will say that I don’t like the electrolyte drinks as much that have a lot of other vitamins/mineral in them. That is why I still recommend electromix.
Leigh, if you ever need a water retention test subject, let me know- I’ll happily volunteer! I won’t even need to sign the informed consent
I was listening to the podcast, but now I am going to thefitcast.com
See ya later!
