1 Random Email I Got and Answered
Dear Leigh Peele,
I don’t like you and I think you are wasting your time trying to help out fat people. It’s annoying. I would rather you put your effort to helping people learn how to lift some weight. Teach that. People are going to eat or they aren’t.
-Strong Woman of DC
Dear Strong Woman of DC,
Are you a superhero? Your name suggest that you have some sort of ultimate power. It would be cool if you could send me a video of your exercising your super strong woman strength on our nations capital. Maybe a picture of you doing deadlifts with the Lincoln Memorial or a javelin throw with the Washington Monument?

Nice Ferret
Better yet, perhaps you can get a net and scoop up all the fatty’s in your area and fly them to the “Valley of the Heifers” and drop them off so that you never have to see them again and you can live in your country of perfection. I hope that you rid the population of these people as quickly as possible, for I hear that your only weakness is to be sat on by a fatty.
In the meantime, I appreciate the constructive criticism on my efforts.

LMAO at your response to that email!
Loved the recipes in today’s email, by the way! YUM!
Yeah I thought it was pretty much the most ridiculous email I ever got.
Speaking of email, you should have some in a few.
Priceless!
Oh and Leigh it is pretty pathetic that you don’t have a gravatar on your own site.
You know what Katie, stuff it. That is all.
Well now that is better.
Don’t make me breakout out his cousin, Dramatic Chipmunk.
I am wondering precisely why “helping people learn how to lift some weight” has to be somehow separate from “trying to help fat people”. Can the two not be synonymous?
Leigh has been integral in encouraging me to shift my training regime to predominantly weight lifting based, with moderate cardio to supplement it. I was just bordering on becoming a ‘fat person’. I’m not anymore – thanks to Leigh.
Leigh, you’re a credit to yourself and the work you do. Xxx
Awesome– I love how people are so quick to judge and can “hate you” without even knowing you. *sigh* I wonder how many many success stories and how many lives your hater has changed.
Leigh-
Loved the different links…… Its weird bc I think after reading all this lately, I think I fall where SKWIGG does. I just want to be a strong healthy mom, so that when people look at me they can tell I work out. But..I dont want to be bodybuilder or fitness look. I realize that would not fit in to my life. I dont want the “waif” skinny actress look, but more just what would look best for my body type. I have heard alot in the last years from different people that I should not be doing heavy squats and heavy deadlifting, as i tend to have bigger legs…..I think I just blew that off…but now I wonder if there IS something too that?
Anyway thanks for all you do…..YOU ARE THE JAM!!!! lol
SInead- which recipe did you try from the email?
PS. LEIGH loved the email response to super DC girl!
Ms. DC sounds like she thinks there is only one way to eat to get results. What you show, or at least what I’ve gotten from you, is there are options and variety to get success. Which is why Ms. DC is threatened and spreading the hate because for her, her scope may be so small, all she sees is the plain chicken breast and broccoli and it works so why change. And why are suggesting change when change may equal fail? I like your way better Leigh. I think you’re fabulous. (More recipes please!)
Shari, I think I tried the second one.
It always amazes me that some people (like DC chick) find time to write such drivel….I have so much more to do with my life than send useless emails to people I don’t like…..
I’d call the guy in the pic of the post a random goody, too.
I’m going to have to come up with my own superhero name to use when sending unfounded hate email. Have to protect my secret identity and all.
(A comment was erased, which I have done twice this entire blog. If you are confused as to the comment below, that is why)
James-I erased your comment, which I never do because you were attacking the character of someone I consider a friend. I haven’t even got to investigate the situation yet, and plan on doing so, but as it stands you will have to construct your thoughts a little better than you did.
I know you, so I know you get very “heat of the moment,” but I think you need to step back for a moment and look at the full situation.
Do you have a question? What is your stance? What is the problem?
That is much better than developing blog turrets.
I am sorry for being insulting in your blog.
Do you have a question?
Why would you promote material that is subpar? Why would you complain about trainers trying to make money online who don’t train people and then sell their books to your loyal readers? Why would you give up years of integrity to make a few bucks?
Here is one Leigh, why didn’t you promote the book?
What is your stance?
My stance is for giving the right information out there,
What is the problem?
Losing respect for people I once promoted and defended as being of good character. Mike doing this is almost at the level of you doing this to me Leigh.
Well at least that is more respectful. I will say I can’t speak for anyone or am I going to attempt too.
Why didn’t I promote the book?
Let me make it clear that I like Joel. I think Joel is a nice guy, he has never been nothing but nice to me from a long time ago. Much longer than needing a book sale. He is an aggressive salesman, which might come off wrong to some, but he seems to have a good heart.
The only reason, only reason, I didn’t promote the book is because there was some of it I disagreed with. This stuff wasn’t even that major, I would say I agree with 85% of the book. However, that small percentage that I didn’t agree with goes against a lot of what I talk about in my books and on my blogs.
My fear was that it was going to confuse already confused readers. My job is to try and educate my readers best possible and try and help them remain less confused.
If I say for example:
All food has calories and neglecting the importance that vegetables can have on your fat loss might lead you to a stall. I recommend tracking all intake at least for a short period of time to understand how much you are taking in.
If Joel says:
“”Free” vegetables are still free. Vegetables from the “free” veggies list can be
added to any meal. In fact, these vegetables can be consumed at any time as an unofficial snack to fight cravings or to up your daily fiber content.”
While I understand what Joel is saying, and it may work for some, I have personally seen this be a downfall to too many of my readers. So I would have to caveat that. I did the same thing the the “Move a Little, Lose a Lot” book. I didn’t really like the nutrition in there, but overall thought the book was awesome.
Its an OC thing. I can’t help it. When you get as many “I thought you said this here” emails as I do, you try and plan ahead.
Joel agreed to talk to me about these disagreements by the way for an interview or general discussion, but I just haven’t had the time to get around to it yet. I didn’t want to do a review withouth giving him a chance to maybe even clarify some things he put in the book that we may even agree on, but its just a writing style disagreement. Most of the time you will find that is the case.
I just do what I do to try and help make things as easy as they can be for people, that is it. I would love it if I could just do a review, sale a book, and call it a day. Most of the time I can’t do that, but that doesn’t mean I want to blast someone. It just takes more time and work.
Rather than invest that time to affiliate the books that I likely wont sell much of because I am not some big time seller, I would rather just write and do what I do best and hope in the future to cover these things where I can.
That make sense?
Are there some people’s stuff I wouldn’t sell not matter what? Yep, practically everyone. However, there are the occasional good finds and I would either consider selling it or would sell it. Sometimes there are just some caveats that have to be covered and I am cafeful of that.
Thanks for commenting on this Leigh. I can’t say that I agree with Mike. I don’t see how he takes thought of his list like that.
I got to start my own blog!
Love your blog and fitness related contributions.Found you through Skwigg:)

Leigh I think I love you. That picture made me pee a little.
Leigh,
. But I’ve been doing that for a while. I don’t get as fancy as to use the hazelnut you recommended, but just add it in straight from the pot. I use it for pre-workout fuel and recovery. Mixing a bit of coffee along with a touch of chocolate powder and a tasty chocolate flavored, low carb variety, protein mix. Your recipe looked perfect though.
Great recipe in your email. You should probably put it up somewhere in a post. I thought I was the only one crazy enough to add coffee to my protein shakes
