1 Interview you should hear:
A little while ago I did an interview with a very nice guy Jimmy Moore. I talked about a few things that can be a little taboo for his crowd but Jimmy let me speak freely and was really awesome about it. Check it out.

2 blog post that give a different take on the Biggest Loser
I know there are quite a few Biggest Loser fans and that’s okay, but as professionals we often have a different view. Due to the start of a new season, and an aggressive one at that, there has been a lot of talk about the role this show has on the public’s view of weight loss. In response, two excellent blog posts were made on the subject.
Tom Venuto’s Objective Look at The Biggest Loser
Chris Mohr’s Letter to Jillian Michaels
1 article that will help you train better and harder at the gym
Pump up your gym
Kevin Larrabee put up a great article on how to make adjustments at your gym if you are wanting to do sled work, rack pulls, or glute hams (even if missing the equipment). A really simple but helpful piece. You can also find Kevin weekly (along with myself, Dr. Jon Fass, Tony Gentilcore, and various others) on The Fitcast.

I already heard the interview you did with Jimmy, I thought it was great Leigh. Very gutsy to go against Taubes on that low carb show heh.
Looking forward to reading the Biggest loser interviews
Wow. That video just made my morning. Thanks for the post.
Kevin’s article totally helped me figure out how to build a sled! Thanks a lot for the post.
Listening to the Jimmy interview right now. Great stuff as always Leigh.
Great interview! It would be interesting to see what some of the listeners had to say. Once again I love how you approach everything with no b.s. and explain so it matter-of-fact.
I also liked Coach Dos’ blog post about Biggest Loser.
LMAO!!!!
HAHA OMG that video is hilarious!
OMG that is the funniest video ever.
I am going to listen to the Jimmy Moore podcast now!
I’m getting way more enjoyment out of that video than I expected to! I’ve watched it at least three times now.
I can’t wait to hear the podcast!
Awesome post, Leigh! That video is hilarious!
By the way, did you watch Biggest Loser this week? At one point, Jillian (in one of those cameo side interviews) said that she and Bob were the “best in the world” at getting people to lose weight. I shuddered…
I was wondering where that video was going. Ooops! lol
Check out this one, I couldn’t stop smiling.

Oh, Sinead, I saw that last episode and was amazed at some of the statements both Jillian and Bob were making! This season is making me cringe more than any other– the level of arrogance of the two trainers accompanied with, what seems to me, mean spiritedness and disrespect towards the trainees seems completely out of control, and solely for the camera. I am hoping Jillian is truly not that cruel (she wanted to “throttle” a contestant last week) and that the editing is done to show her in the worst light possible but it certainly makes you wonder.
You know, I understand tough love and that sometimes as a trainer you have to be bold and as Leigh as said in the past, not compromise. It is mandatory to keep your client honest and to address issues that they may not want to hear. But anyone can do what Jillian is doing, anyone can scream at a client and break them down to tears and make them feel like a horrible human being. She seems to be really lacking any true care and concern for the contestants this time around. Seem likes she is burnt out to me.
Best Video I’ve seen in awhile!!
Please excuse my horrible typo above : “Seem likes she is burnt out to me”
I’m blaming that one on pregnancy brain fog and total lack of sleep!!
And yes… I watched the video again.
I can imagine how frustrating it must be to have put time and energy into explaining something to someone only to have that person turn right around and do the opposite, but yeah I thought the “throttle” was an extreme reaction.
I’m not a fan of The Jimster but I thought your interview with him was great. It brought a bit of middle ground to his ultra-low-carb preachings. Although he professes that he believes everyone should find what works for them and stick with it, his comments in his blog and menu blog do not always support this philosophy.
Keep up the great work, Leigh. I’m going back in for my 3rd read of the FLTS and looking forward to BBE.
I’m still giggling! Like it.
A little late on this one… haven’t heard the interview yet but just read the comments on Jimmy’s blog… predictable.
That Lisa girl is something else – screaming foul because Jimmy dared have somebody on who is “living in the dark ages” for having the temerity to belive that calories matter. Unfortunately, Jimmy’s listenership is rife with her ilk.
On Jimmy – seems like a very likable guy. That said he is pretty militant in his beliefs and is decidedly absolutist about low carb. He attacks anyhing and anyone who opposes low carb groupthink. Don’t get me wrong, some of his criticisms are valid, but many are not.
He aggrandizes people like Taubes, Eades and for God-only-knows-what reason Fred Hahn.
It’s great that he gives other people the forum to share their point of view but like Sybil says, he will outright dismiss it at some other point (sometimes in his comments section). If you don’t believe me go to the site and type “Lyle McDonald”… he interviewed Lyle and his listeners predictably bitched about Lyle’s audacity to not recommend ad lib saturated fat intake for everybody. When challenged about what he belives he just shrugs it off as “not believing in the truth”
I’ll put up a comment and see what he says.
