CoCo Coffee Ice Cream – Leigh Peele
60g Protein Powder, Chocolate
22 fl oz Almond milk, Chocolate Unsweet
7 g Splenda (or 12 g regular sugar if don’t want to use artificial)
2 g xanthum gum
5 g instant coffee
10 g unsweet cocoa powder
3 packets of stevia
Directions:
1. Make sure your ice Cream maker is ready to use per factory instructions.
2. Place protein powder and milk into blend. Blend for 30 sec.
3. Add remaining ingredients and blend together for 1 min or until fully mixed and thick.
4. Transfer into ice cream maker and wait for ice cream to thicken. Depending on maker it is roughly 30-50 mins.
Yields 2 heaping servings
Calories: 215 Protein: 27 Carbs: 13. 2 Fat: 6.29

Dear Leigh,
My name is Shaun and am currently 22 years old and after about 10 minutes of surfing the web I had came across your Blog/page and seem to have the thought that you may carry great knowledge regarding health/weight loss, and would like to share my general opinion with you and hopefully to get a in depth response regarding my concerns. I would also like to thank you in advance as I’m sure you must get tons of emails and what not throughout the day.
Concern? jealousy? : At the age of 22 and around 5’9″ weight about 230 pounds I am not the most comfortable with my body, now when looking at 50, (rapper) and how much weight he lost I kind of started to pond if he can lose 50 in about 9 weeks (sources Google) I would love to be able to shed some weight of myself, however I know that shedding 50 pounds in 60 days might be unrealistic, I have come to the conclusion that you may be able to show me a way to begin my dieting as I Have been trying to go to the gym on daily basis however am limited to the extent of my work out with a torn ligament in my knee from playing basketball.
Previous attempts: yes just like many others i have tried the maple syrup and Cayenne pepper diet for a few days and being that yeah you would lose weight it came back 3 times quicker and heavier then I lost it. so in all reality I would love some information regarding the most proper way and most efficient way to shed of my weight especially around my belly and waist, as I would love to fit into smaller clothing.
Any help or suggestions would be a great help, thank you once again

I have a personal question. I am 32 and have always been overweight. I wrestled and played football in high school and college and was able to keep it under somewhat control. I played at about 270lb in college and 240 in high school. But I always had practice to keep me active. Now I find that I mentally want to work out and eat right, but find it difficult to stick with it. I do not have the kick in the ass that I had with coaches. I can not afford a personal trainer, so what are my options? Am I just screwed? I weigh 310 lbs and am 6’1″. Thank you for your time.

I recently attended a bootcamp where I pushed to the point of nausea. (I am an overweight female, but work out regularly) The nausea had nothing to do w/ food. I tested the whole what to eat and when to eat theory, but my body would just hit the point of intense nausea and made it almost impossible to continue. The personal trainers expressed pleasure that they had pushed me to this point.
My questions are….is this the way it’s supposed to be? Is it OK to continuously push to this point and beyond?
I’m so sad because it’s had the reverse effect and made me pull away from the intense exercise I once enjoyed.
What are your thoughts?

Episode 29: Whiny Women Dieters

Dear Leigh,
Love your stuff, love the podcast.
I read the FLTS and have steadily been losing fat ever since. I find it challenging to stick to my deficit but definitely doable.
My question though: what is up with the intense dependence that women on diets develop? I’ve noticed that women feel the need to treat being fat like it’s a handicap and a huge emotional issue. It’s like they stop being an individual with some pounds to shed and start being a “dieter” who needs everyone in their life to be gentle to them during their “struggle” with fat. Diet Logs turn into hug-fests when someone ‘falls off the wagon’ and pats on the back are bestowed and even worse, expected.
I’m not sure how to phrase this without coming across as an insensitive bi-yotch, but why are women so whiny when it comes to losing fat? Is that even healthy? Can you go back to being a healthy maintainer when that ‘dieter’ attention stops?

In this podcast episode…
This episode was inspired by a post in the members forums. This episode isn’t a pep talk about “you can do it!” It is more about the mindset of why we usually don’t believe in ourselves. There are a few things I want to highlight a little more here on the blog.
1. You don’t have to decide what you want to do in a day, but you can decide the characteristics of who you want to be right now. Worry about the type of person you want to be, rather than specific actions. It makes for a lot less guilty, worry, and pressure.
2. You have to conquer your issues with what attributed to the gain in the first place. Otherwise, you are going to fall in the cycle of yo-yo’ing back and forth.
3. You can’t expect it all to “click”, even with the best of information. You have to learn yourself and you have to make mistakes. You can ride in the car with your parents all your life, but you know driving it is a completely different story. Don’t let the fact that you make mistakes or have to ease your way into this deter you from going forward.
4. As much as fat loss and training can change your life, it doesn’t have to rock your world. Sometimes, you can just get in shape, get healthy, and call it a day.
