3 more holiday gifts fitness folk may like
On the latest episode of The Fitcast we talked about holiday gifts. I also talked about it on a recent episode of my own podcast. Here are a few more.
1. Gift Certificate to Audible.com - This is great for those who like to listen to more than music when training, commuting, or simply in down time.
2. A good pair of gloves – This is more for someone you can spend more money. A really good pair of gloves can keep you going in outside training more than you realize. It may cost you a good sum, but they last forever and it is worth it in the long run. Thanks to Missy for the idea.
3. TRX – The anywhere training gym system is fun to give variety to your training especially if more into bodyweight training or have limited options in your area.
Random Thoughts
1. Be careful of those who run in tight circles and their changing opinions. Most of the time it is calculated to rob you of one thing, money.
2. Find a book which inspires you and read it everyday, even if just a page.
3. Don’t take yourself so seriously. You may fool people for a little while into thinking you are cool but they will soon find out you are insecure and boring. If you didnt know, that isn’t cool.
4. Progression. Say it with me, “Progression.” Are your workouts saying it? They should be.
5. When I was younger I hated the song “Mr. Jones” by the Counting Crows with a passion. 10 years later I heard it with a friend, in a silent moment of “aha” we realized the hidden brilliance of the song and I now love it. It goes to show you what time and a new point of view can do on how you feel about things.
6. Don’t go through guru phases, go through knowledge spurts.

Nice post on some terse recommendations, looking forward to the coming articles.
Looking forward to the articles Leigh. I never take myself too seriously.

Now this will be good, my kind of music
Good thoughts. Looking forward to the articles too. I didn’t mind the “Mr Jones” song, but I hated the video. It was very unsettling seeing a man with a shirt too short for his body hopping up and down while singing and his massive beer gut peeking out. It just grossed me out. And now you, Leigh, torment me with it.
Hazel, your comment made me laugh, in particular the last line, thank you!
Can’t wait for Mom don’t love me music, hehe. I think I spent my high school years living and breathing that kind of music so I’m curious to see if any of my fave tunes from back then made it to your list.
I love the pic for this post, and also anyone who is willing and able to poke fun at themselves.
Gee Leigh, I did not know I gave you the idea about the gloves! (unless there’s another Missy!) But unless I missed it, which do you recommend?
Cardio – The Definitive Selection Guide – I can’t wait for this article!!
