This week I have at least 5 different products/book/etc to review for the site. I thought, “Why not have a review week?” The great thing is they are actually top notch products (from people like Tom Ventuo, Jamie Hale, and Mike Robertson). I am trying to keep to more positive reviews in general especially since my last two reviews (that weren’t favorable) left me with hate mail I am still going through…Oh who am I kidding, I will do those again too.
The point is, while I am on the kick, if you want me to review anything I am in review mode. Shoot me a email through my contact or simply post a comment up of the stuff you would like for me to review. Here are the following things to keep in mind.
1. It can’t be ridiculous or a waste of time (e.g. The Shake Weight).
2. Try to keep it under $200 dollars/or something I would have easy access too.
3. While I know my reviews are fun, request something you want a legitimate opinion on because you are thinking of buying it.
Looking forward to your ideas. I might be able to squeeze 2-3 more out this week.

I would LOVE a review of the Beach Body Insanity Workout DVDs. Pretty much all the reviews out there seem to be by BB affiliates, so they are biased. I’d love to know your thoughts–I’ll be away from my university gym this summer, and am looking for some good DVDs. P90X is fun for me, but Insanity looks really killer. I just can’t wrap my head around Mr. Hip Hop Abs Shaun T being the ball-busting leader.
from someone who dabbled with Insanity, I can tell you, it will knock you on your ass, but maybe not in a desirable way. My first few workouts left me laying on the floor dripping afterwards, despite being a fitness nerd for the past 12 years. Within a week, my hamstring was pulled badly. My type A personality combined with very little cueing from Shaun T to go at your own pace, finally iced with a cast that are arguably genetic freaks of nature, lead me to pushing beyond what I knew my body could do. I do NOT recommend these DVDs for anyone who has not been doing at least 6 months of intense speed drills and plyometrics but ESPECIALLY not for anyone with any musculoskeletal conditions, including obesity! You will start jokingly using the phrase “keep your core tight” but he never explains exactly what that means. You will also notice that during the more difficult, intense moves such as the push-up circuits, they focus the camera on one person, which will make sense when you see the size of the arms on some of the girls. He offers no modifications and quite frankly, at the pace these workouts move, there is no time to offer them.
My biggest problem with this system and BB in general is the marketing. It’s such hype. first of all (and I’m sure Leigh would agree after seeing ten minutes of this workout) it is a terrible idea to even moderately restrict calories while following this plan. It provides a low calorie diet to shed the fat, yet high intensity interval training 5-6 days a week requires a higher than normal amount of nutrition to support the training, similar to a competitive athlete. It just doesn’t make sense and I don’t know very many people who could successfully complete both the training and diet program and not feel wrecked.
Bottom line, if you’re in great shape and looking for a serious challenge, why not, just be careful. At the end of the day, it’s another gimmick, and there are much better ways to achieve your goals. That’s my two sense from experience, as I know Leigh will be smart enough to never even attempt it
Vibrams 5 Toe Shoes
TriggerPoint Therapy
I would like to see a review of any of the following…
Jackie Warner’s New Book
Primal Blueprint
Dance with Julianne: Cardio Ballroom
Thanks Leigh
How about Joel Marion’s Xtreme Fat Loss program? It isn’t of particular interest to me, but I think a lot of people would enjoy a review about it.
Personally, I would really like a review of Martin Rooney’s new Ultimate Warrior Workouts book. Not sure if anyone would want that, but his T-Nation interview sounded awesome.
I am kind of curious about Joel Marion’s new Extreme Fat Loss plan. Would love to know your thoughts Leigh!!
Niel, the Martin Rooney is one of the 5 I was putting up for sure.
New food products you like! Nut butters, Dairy, Bread, Protein bars etc’…
KFC’s Double Down lol
Valerie Waters Products & Workout routines, especially the “Action Hero Babe workout” and “I Want My Bikini Body 3″. Also what you think of Valslides and exercises that use them. Are they really worth the money or do paper plates work just as well?
Best to you!
2nd the Valerie Waters request.
I triple the Valerie Waters request. How very timely. Life is weird sometimes!
I 3rd the Valerie Waters Request.
I also understand that John Romaniello will be on The Fit Cast. I would love a review of his Final Phase Fat Loss system.
THANK YOU LEIGH!
Beach Body Brazilian Butt Lift-Horrible title, I know, but people are raving about it. I’ve been struggling with getting to the gym lately and have been looking at some DVDs.
